During the uprising in October 1941 joint Partisan (Communist) and Chetnik (Royalist) forces attacked Kraljevo. They used 2 captured tanks, one of them being H39. The commander was partisan, and the driver was chetnik. Over German crosses were painted red star on one side and double-headed white eagle on the other side of the hull.
The alliance broke soon after, chetniks turned to anticommunism and thus fought on the German side.
